Lily
Concierge
A mobile app designed to help caretakers keep track of the medical needs of their loved ones
Overview
Lily Concierge is a medical app designed for the caretakers of elderly or chronically ill patients. The app helps users keep track of medications, appointments, stress, food intake, and other health indicators - keeping them organized with all the minute details of caring for their loved one. The app also allows primary caretakers to communicate more efficiently and effectively amongst each other.
Role
I worked as a UX Design Intern at Pure Inc. designing a medical app for caregivers. My responsibilities included designing original screens, re-designing some of my peers' screens, and creating the design system and component library.
Duration
3 months
Screen Design
I was tasked with designing a number of screens for the app, as well as a separate version of the app for nurses. I started with analog wireframes for each screen, ,then moved on to digital iterations.

After completing each sprint, our prototype was handed off to the design researchers to conduct user testing. I adjust each screen based on user feedback. Below are some of the screens I designed, taken from the high fidelity prototype.

Screen Re-Design
In addition to designing my own screens, I also re-designed a number of other screens done by my teammates. The screens I re-designed include: home page, chat, decision room, timeline, patient profile, food intake, and stress meter.
During my revisions, I established a universal color palette and adjusted existing components to follow current design trends and UI principles, which resulted in visual consistency across the app and better test results.
"The app performed much better in testing based on Nicole's revised designs." - Esther Kuperman, Founder of Pure Inc.

Design System & Component Library
My largest tasks were creating a design system and component library that would be used by developers when building out the app. This task required compiling all the elements created within the app and making them consistent with each other.

Takeaways
This opportunity taught me the importance of establishing a component library and design system early on. I was assigned the task of creating these systems about halfway through the internship, where I realized how much work would have been saved for the team had we created them first.
On a similar note, this project also showed me the value of collaboration and clear, consistent communication. This internship was conducted remotely with limited mentorship, so my team did not have the opportunity to connect and establish goals, styles, and roles together, which would have saved us a lot of effort down the line.
